I don't know about you, but I love the sound of rain at night as I drift off to sleep. It's just one of those peaceful nature sounds for me. But, for probably the same reason, rain in the morning makes it difficult for me to get out of bed. Which all leads to the fact that this morning I am thinking about rain (in part because I'm not quite alert enough - haven't had enough coffee - to think about much else. This led me to a Bible search: What does the Bible say about rain?

Acts 14:17: "Yet he (God) has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.”

Isaiah 45:8: “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the LORD, have created it."

Job 5:10: "He provides rain for the earth; he sends water on the countryside."

Joel 2:23: "Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the LORD your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful. He sends you abundant showers, both autumn and spring rains, as before."

Often in the Bible, rain is seen as an opportunity for renewal and as a sign of new life. Today might be a good day to simply enjoy the rain and think about an opportunity to begin something new.

God blessings on you this rainy day!
