This morning I have been reflecting on yesterday's sermon and our impressions of heaven. It's unfortunate, I think, that we so often get our views of God, the Bible, heaven, etc. from books, movies, poetry, and passed-down stories rather than from the best source. It has almost come to the point where, if we dare to be honest with ourselves, heaven seems boring and detached from any semblance to real life - and so who would want to go there, especially for eternity.

The Bible doesn't give us great detail about heaven, but it does gives us glimpses. I think most interesting for me is that the heaven that now exists (for those who have died and are waiting) is not the same heaven that will exist when Christ comes again. At that time, there will be a new heaven and a new earth that will be much like this earth - only better. It will be earth as God originally intended it to be. And, somehow, in ways I can't fathom, we will work, play, laugh, love, worship, and truly live, in this new, re-created, place.

Can you get a glimpse of that promise?
