I don't know about you, but for some reason I am getting an early start this morning. But the wonderful thing about posting is that you can catch up with this meditation at 8 am, 8 pm, or any time in between. Anyway, today's psalm is another song, one of 15 "Songs of Ascents" (Ps. 120-134). These songs were used by pilgrims to Jerusalem coming from various outlying areas. There were three required pilgrimages to Jerusalem each year - times when families, and even whole communities, made their way to the holy center of Israel. This psalm is a short song of quiet trust in God. The wording of the psalm strongly suggests that the author was a woman.

O Lord, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me. But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with its mother, my soul is like the weaned child that is with me. O Israel, hope in the Lord from this time on and forevermore.  (Ps. 131)

We don't know what these words would've sounded like in the time of David when the people of Israel made their way to Jerusalem. But below you can link to the words sung today in Hebrew. As you listen, may your soul be calmed and quieted. Have a blessed day.
