"So, my child, draw your strength from the grace that is in Jesus Christ. Take the things you heard me say in front of many other witnesses and pass them on to faithful people who are capable of teaching others." (2 Timothy 2:1-2).

Throughout our lives, we learn from other people. In our jobs, when starting out, we watch others, listen to others, learn by repetition. Normally we learn more this way than by any on-the-job training we are offered. Then, later, new employees come in who watch and listen to us. Hopefully, we are not just willing to share what we know, but are gracious in doing so.

Disciples of Jesus are called to a similar task. We are to take those things we learned from faithful pastors and teachers and pass them along to others. We are to witness to Christ and the trustworthiness of his way of life and to instruct others how they, too, can follow as his disciples and grow in faith. In the meantime, we continue to look to others to help us keep grounded in our faith and growing as well.

What does this look like? Love people. All people. Even those who are hard to love (after all, you may be one of those as well!). Be patient. Don't give in to despair. Pray for them. Be there for them. Then, speak to them of your hope, your faith in Christ when you have the opportunity. We are called to witness.

Prayer: God, assist me in taking what I have received and passing it on to others. Give me the skills to witness faithfully to Christ through word and deed. Amen.
