We Look Forward To Meeting You!

Welcome to Irvington United Methodist Church. We’ve put together some information that anticipates and tries to briefly answer some of the questions you may have prior to visiting our church for the first time.

Atmosphere

It’s important to us that you feel welcome when visiting. We hope our atmosphere will help you feel relaxed and comfortable. Our German-Gothic style church can be imposing at first, but the message of the Gospel is one of grace and inclusivity. We are glad to have you join us in worship! You will be greeted and welcomed.

Family Friendly

No matter your family dynamics, you’re welcome at IUMC and we’re excited for you to consider being a part of our church family! Our intent is to serve the whole family.

Music

In our sanctuary, we have a wonderful pipe organ and piano. We also have a small, but mighty, choir and offer special music when the choir is not singing. We have also begun the process of starting a praise band. Come, sit back, listen, sing – and worship God with us. If you have a musical talent you would like to share, or just enjoy singing and would like to join our choir, ask someone to point out Gregory. He’ll be glad to talk to you about opportunities and practice times.

Prayer

We believe in the power of prayer – both in thanking God for our joys and in sharing with God our concerns. We offer a time in our service to make known our joys and concerns to one another so that we can come together in prayer as the body of Christ. For those who wish to share but are uncomfortable speaking up during the service, we have a prayer wall and a praise wall in our hallway next to the chapel. There is a locked box by the prayer wall where private prayer requests can be placed to be seen and prayed for only by the pastor. You can also use the prayer card to request a call from the pastor.

Sermon

Here at IUMC, we place a high priority on the preaching and teaching of God’s Word. The worship service is a time for us to come together as a community to learn, be encouraged, and be challenged. We believe that a church family lives out their faith together.
