I feel it may be time to let you in on a little secret ... I don't wake up every morning "pondering." Some mornings, like this one, the brain doesn't want to engage. The most that I am "pondering" right now is whether I want to get off the couch and make a cup of coffee. I want a cup of coffee - I'm just not sure I want it bad enough to get up and go make it. Ps. 46:10 fits perfectly on a day like today: "Be still and know that I am God." I can do that! Do you ever have days like today?
As I sit here, I've been leafing through the Book of Psalms. Psalms is my go-to book for inspiration and motivation. I'd like to share these words with you this morning from Ps. 89:
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known
through all generations.
I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you have established your faithfulness in heaven itself.
The heavens praise your wonders, Lord,
your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones.
For who in the skies above can compare with the Lord?
Who is like the Lord among the heavenly beings?
Who is like you, Lord God Almighty?
You, Lord, are mighty, and your faithfulness surrounds you.
The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours;
the world and all that is in it—you founded them.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne;
steadfast love and faithfulness go before you.
Blessed be the Lord forever.
Amen and Amen.
This is the day that the Lord has made. Get up off the couch, make that cup of coffee, and find something to rejoice about! Have a blessed week!
