Last week in our look at the life of Jacob (through the book "Escaping with Jacob" by David Ramos), we saw how Jacob's selfish actions caused tension, and even violent anger, within his family. Esau wants revenge, Isaac is hurt by Jacob's betrayal, and Rebekah now has to send her favorite child away and remain with a husband and her other son who both know of her role in all of this mess. Restoring this family is going to take God....   &nb...

Last week in our look at the life of Jacob (through the book "Escaping with Jacob" by David Ramos), we continued to see how Jacob's selfish choices impacted his family. His father is heartbroken; his brother is enraged and seeks revenge. His mother, who loves him best, now has to help him flee ...

This week we continue our look at the life of the Old Testament patriarch, Jacob, through the book is Escaping with Jacob by David Ramos. As we read last week, the story of Jacob is the story of a man who is perfectly imperfect. Even Jacob's beginning was a painful one; he was born the younger twin, and from the very beginning wanted to be the older son. We will see that this desire, to be something greater or different than he was, continued to be a problem ...

Our devotional series based on the book Climbing with Abraham by David Ramos continues. Last week, we finished reading about the death of Sarah and saw how Abraham's love for her and desire to honor her led to his purchase of land for a burial place for her, for himself, and for generations to come. Abraham's "normal" purchase of land was used by God to fulfill a promise made decades earlier. God can take our "normal" and turn it into ...

Our devotional series based on the book Climbing with Abraham by David Ramos continues. Last week, we read about the death of Sarah who, despite all her faults and shortcomings, is considered one of the most respected women of the Old Testament. Her life reminds us that God doesn't expect us to be perfect; we are reminded to put our trust in God and to rely on others to help us live our faith. Our devotional series based on the book Climbing with Abraham by David Ramos continues. Last week, we focused on another promise God made to Abraham: the promise of land. This promise took even longer than the promise of a child, and yet God calls us to be patient and trust that promises made will come true. In the meantime, however, we are called not just to sit and wait, but to do live and to act for God.  __________________________We...
